Mandatory for V3.x to V4.2 Upgrades

This instruction mandatory only for customers upgrading from UPM·X Version 3.x to Version 4.2.

Upgrading Best-Practices

It is strongly recommended to upgrade from major to major release without skipping a major release e.g.

  • ✅ DO: Version 3.x to V4.x
  • ⛔️ DON'T: Version 2.x to V4.x

Major Changes

UPM·X V4.2 includes the following major improvements:

  • Data Quality: We have improved the data quality calculations performance and logic. Backup existing data definitions and re-create them in the new Data Quality Portal (see point Migrate Data Quality Configuration.
  • UPM·X Portal: We have replaced the cache table and business rule with a new API.

Upgrade Procedure

  1. Go to System Applications/Installed and search for UPM·X.
  2. Select the latest UPM·X version and click on Update.
  1. The Update will take some time. Wait until the update has been completed before you proceed.

Migrate Data Quality Configuration

Backup Existing Data Quality Configuration

Please backup the following table content (if not empty) by exporting them to Excel (.xlsx) and XML:

Execute Scheduled Jobs

Please run the following scheduled jobs by clicking the "Execute Now" button on your instance:


Wait between 2 scheduled scripts

Please wait approximately 10 minutes before you execute the second scheduled job!

'To recreate the full hierarchy path for all portfolio elements

Restoring Data Quality Configuration

You need the previously exported Excel Spreadsheets to restore the Data Quality Configuration.
Open the new Data Governance Portal and follow the steps below:
  • Click the "+" button at the bottom left of the Data Governance Portal to add a new entry.
  • Enter the same values from the Excel Spreadsheet to the new Data Governance Portal following the mapping table below:

Example Mapping

  • Confirm the mapping by clicking on the SAVE button on the Data Quality Card.

  • Now, add all "Mapped Fields" by clicking the "+" icon. To be mapped fields are in the column "Data Definition" in the Excel Spreadsheet "Data Definition Scope".

Deleting Legacy Configuration


Mandatory Step

This step is mandatory for all customers migrating from any prior version to V4.2!


  • Download the Update Set and unzip.
  • Go to "Retrieved Update Sets" in ServiceNow
  • Click on "Import Update Set from XML" under the related links
  • Select the downloaded UpdateSet and upload it
  • Click on "Preview Update Set" after the upload is completed
  • Accept all Warnings and Errors and click on "Commit Update Set"


  • Delete the following Scheduled Jobs:
'RETIRED: UPM·X Create portfolio tree

'ON DEMAND: UPM·X Create portal tree for existing definitions

'ON DEMAND: UPM·X Data Governance — Set Value field on "Data Quality" table

The Upgrade procedure has been successfully completed.
